Fact: “Scotties” was NOT the original nickname/mascot of Glasgow High School .
GHS Athletic teams were termed the “Huskies” from 1911 to 1928, changed to the “Highlanders” from 1929 to 1942, before finally settling on the “Scotties” in 1943.

Fact:  Scarlet (Red) and White were NOT the original school colors.
Red and Black were the original school colors of GHS to signify blood or death.  This was an excerpt from the school’s annual, the Prickly Pear, prior to 1910.

Fact: Our School song IS “Scotland the Brave”.
The school song was actually wrongly identified as “My Bonnie Lassie” for decades.  When identifying a cover, you use the source material which is the Scottie Folk song “Scotland the Brave”.  Although “My Bonnie Lassie” has the same tune, it was not the original source of the melody.  It was a 60’s pop cover sung to the tune of “Scotland the Brave”.  The original school song was actually the popular tune “On Wisconsin”.  It changed in _________.

Fact:  “Scottie” IS grammatically correct when referring to the “Glasgow Scotties” in singular form.
“Scotty” has also been used by select fans, alumni & media.  It is true, however, that the school’s annual has long been nicknamed the “Scotty”.  When referring to our teams in plural form we should be referred to as Glasgow Scotties, however, we are often incorrectly labeled Glasgow Scottie’s.

Fact:  The last sport added at Glasgow High School was Girls Wrestling.
The sport was added for the 2020-21 school year.  It is the 13th sport sponsored by GHS.

Fact: Glasgow High School owns the Montana All-Class State record with 16 Team State Championships in Girls Cross Country. 
We also own a Class A-B-C State Record with eight consecutive Girls XC State Championships from 1973 to 1980.

Fact:  The School Record for Consecutive Divisional Team Championships is held by Boys Track with 6.
Boys Track won an Eastern A Championship every year from 1963 to 1968.  Boys Track (1979-83), Wrestling (2007-11), Girls Track (2011-15), & Boys Track (2014-18) all won five divisional titles in a row.

Fact:  Roy Robinson owns the All-Class Montana State Record for Gold Medals in Boys Track & Field with 15 from 1963 to 1966.
Roy also led the Scotties to four Class A team titles; bringing his official State Championship total to 19.

Fact:  Glasgow High School owns the Montana Class A-B-C State Record with 32 State Wrestling Trophies.
The thirty-one top 3 finishes at the state tournament trails only Class AA Great Falls High’s 34 for the most in all-classifications.

Fact:  In order to be inducted into the Scottie Athletic Hall of Fame, one must be selected All-State in Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Golf, or Softball.  One can also earn induction by winning an individual state championship in Wrestling or Track & Field.

Fact:  The largest graduating class of Glasgow High School is 176 in 1965.
Since 1931; the smallest graduating class at GHS is 47 in 2013.

Fact:  Glasgow has hosted a State Championship Football Game on four occasions.
We hosted in 1944, 1974, 1980, and 1986.  We were on the road for title games in 1941, 1967, 1976, and 1983.  Our record is 2-2 at home & 2-2 on the road.
