Scottie Field began construction in 1976 and officially opened in the Fall of 1982. Shortly after, an all-weather rubberized track was added to surround the natural grass football field. It’s cinder block grandstands, with a capacity of 1,695, have remained unique to Class B Football facilities throughout the years. For decades, it was universally considered the premier facility in Eastern Montana.
Over the course of 50 years, however, the football field and the track had begun to show it’s age, so a grassroots effort was put in place aimed at renovating and modernizing our current facility.
In the fall of 2026, it was announced that Scottie Field would be getting a much-needed facelift. Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital (FMDH) agreed to a $2.1 Million Dollar commitment in support of the project; meanwhile the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce succesfully obtained $900K towards the project through the Pilot Community Tourism Grant program offered by the Montana Department of Commerce. The Scottie Booster Club also contributed over $100K to help push this towards the finish line.
In total, a “Recharged” Scottie Field is a $3.5+ Million Dollar initiative. It includes the replacement of our current asphalt all-weather track and the natural grass field with a post-tensioned concrete all-weather Beynon Sports Track and an artificial FieldTurf VertexPrime playing surface. The facility includes new Musco Lighting. The LED’s replace our facility’s antiquated Metal Halide bulbs; resulting in substantial annual energy savings for the District. A new facility Sound System with Video Scoreboard by Daktronics is also set for installation. Yes a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May of 2027, but fundraising efforts remain active as we look to close the remaining financial gap.
