Somer Hoerster (5th Year as Head Coach / 13th Year Overall)
Head Coach

Coach Hoerster returns for her second stint as Head Coach of the Scottie Volleyball program in 2025.  She was previously Head Coach from 2018 to 2021 where she led the Scotties to three straight District 2B Championships from 2019 to 2021 and two appearances at the All-Class State Tournament in 2019 and 2021.  Seven girls earned Individual All-State honors under her tutelage.  Prior to her first stint as GHS Head Coach she was a longtime assistant coach in the Scottie program; spending eight seasons under veteran leader Lori Dailey.  Somer got her start in coaching as the Head Coach at nearby Nashua High School.  
Somer is a 1996 Graduate of Glasgow High School.  During her time with the Scotties she was an All-State performer in Volleyball and led her team to the Class B State Championship her senior year.  After High School, Somer went on to play College Volleyball at National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota.  She lives in Glasgow with her husband Brandon and together they raised five boys; Tayson, Aiden, Keigan, Carter, and KJ.    

Natalie Hopstad (5th Year)
Assistant Coach / JV

Natalie Hopstad returns to the Scottie Volleyball staff in 2024 after a six year hiatus.  She previously served as an assistant coach under Lori Dailey from 2015 to 2017 and under Somer Hoerster in 2018. 
Natalie is a 2009 Graduate of Glasgow High School.  Following High School, she played both College Volleyball and Softball at Dakota College at Bottineau in Bottineu, North Dakota.  She resides in Glasgow with her daughter Paisley.   

Rikki Stormy (4th Year)
Assistant Coach / C Squad

Rikki heads into her 4th season with Scottie Volleyball.  She currently serves as the C squad coach.  Rikki was a standout player for the Scotties while in High School; earning All-State honors in 2015 while helping lead her team to a District 2B Championship.  She lives in her hometown where she works for the City of Glasgow as the Glasgow Recreation Department Office Manager.

Volleyball was an intramural activity at Glasgow High School during the 1984 and 1985 school years. It was officially adopted as a sanctioned sport for the 1985-86 season. The Scotties have established themselves as a perennial contender out of the Northern B Division. Since their Class B arrival in 1992-93, the Scotties have won 20 District 2B tournament titles! They have played in the Divisional Championship match ten times, winning twice. During 1996 and 1997 seasons, the red and white towered over Class B as back to back State Champions.
The Scotties are currently under the direction of head coach Somer Hoerster.  This is Coach Hoerster’s 2nd stint and 5th season overall at the helm of the Scottie program.
